The Clinical Pharmacology manual aims to introduce to the students the principles of rational selection of the proper medicine for a specific patient with the purpose of finding the optimal treatment with maximum therapeutic results and minimal risks and costs for the patient and the society. The goal is for the students to master these principles and to add them to their approach in their individualized and therapeutic work with patients.
The manual includes the clinical pharmacological approaches in the treatment of the following basic socially significant diseases: arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, thromboembolism, chronic heart failure, diabetes, bronchial asthma, peptic ulcer disease, pain therapy, glucocorticoid therapy, osteoporosis, bacterial infections, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections.
The topics are divided into separate chapters and structured in a way that defines the problem, indicates the treatment purpose and most importantly, outlines the pharmacological treatment: medicaments, groups of medicines, preparations, dosage, tables with indications and counter indications, causes, risks, costs, quantities, etc. Each topic ends with references and clinical cases for the students.
